Tonight I will show you how to make a stuffed crust pizza...because, let's admit it, who doesn't like stuffed crust?! I'm not including the tutorial for the crust (although you can get the recipe and tutorial at www.browneyedbaker.com). I always use her crust because it's perfect! The recipe makes 2 pizzas, so I usually freeze enough dough for one. Hence te no pizza dough tutorial...this one came out of the freezer.
Stuffed Crust Pizza
Pizza dough
3 tbsp butter
2 tbsp Parmesan cheese
1/2tsp garlic powder
Mozzarella (lots...probably about 2 cups)
Pizza sauce (I use jarred arribata sauce...it's what my family likes...use whatever you prefer)
Any toppings you like (pepperoni, veggies, etc)
Parmesan cheese
Go ahead and pre-heat your oven to 425F. If you have a pizza stone, use it. If not, any pizza pan or cookie sheet will work.
Roll it out so that it hangs over your pizza stone about 1". Make sure you sprinkled a little cornmeal or flour on the stone to keep the pizza from sticking.
Use a fork and mix the butter, garlic powder and Parmesan cheese.
It will look like this.
Spread a thin, even layer over the crust.
Make a "ring" of cheese along te edge of the dough. Fold the overhanging crust over the cheese and press into the bottom of the pizza.
Once the pizza is stuffed, sprinkle more Parmesan over the buttered dough.
Add your toppings and sprinkle a little bit of mozzarella on top.
Finally sprinkle Parmesan cheese on the top. Put in the oven on the bottom rack if on a pizza stone (on a middle rack with a cookie sheet...once the pizza is cookies, you can take the pizza off the cookie sheet and place directly on the rack to crisp up). Cook for 15-20 min or until the crust is golden brown.
Let the pizza sit for at least 5 min before cutting. Cut, grab a few slices, and cheer for the Broncos! Enjoy!
Happily Homemade
